Black and White Carnival
December 28th to January 7th
🎭 The Blacks and Whites' Carnival – A Cultural Treasure in Colombia
Have you ever seen a celebration full of color, music, and unity?
Every year in Pasto, Colombia, thousands of people gather to celebrate one of the most unique and joyful events in South America: the Blacks and Whites' Carnival.

📜 A Festival with Deep Roots
The carnival has a long history. It began in the 16th century, mixing indigenous, African, and Spanish traditions. What started as a celebration of freedom and culture by Afro-descendant and mestizo communities later became a symbol of equality and cultural diversity. In 2009, UNESCO declared it an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

🌍 Why It Matters
This festival is more than just a party — it represents respect, equality, and creativity. It unites people from different regions, races, and traditions. It also supports local artisans and brings economic and cultural value to the region.
